Frequently asked questions

Can PDF2Muse convert a PDF to a MuseScore file?

PDF2Muse exports MusicXML, which MuseScore Studio can open. After editing, save the score as an MSCZ file in MuseScore.

Do I need Python, Java or MuseScore?

The complete portable package needs neither Python nor Java installed. MuseScore is optional for recognition and installed separately for editing and playback.

Which formats are supported?

The current input is PDF sheet music and the output is MusicXML. PDF2Muse does not extract ordinary PDF text or transcribe audio into notation.

Do I need to check the result?

Yes. OMR may omit or misread notes, rhythms and complex markings. Successful export does not guarantee complete accuracy; PDF2Muse does not automatically correct the result.
